Notes:
Colonel Claw’d
is a California Condor the largest bird in North America. He was hatched
as part of the rescue efforts to save this massive bird from extinction.
It was soon clear that this was a very special Condor because he LOVED
hockey and he was more interested in learning how to ice skate then he
was in learning how to fly! When the Bakersfield Condors hockey team rolled
into town, they offered the Colonel a permanent job as their mascot. Colonel,
who was named in tribute of the founder of Bakersfield Colonel Baker,
made a nest in the Rabobank Arena and has been happy ever since.
He takes
his role as team mascot very seriously. Before every game, he does his
best to get the players excited about going out onto the ice. During the
games, he keeps the energy in the stands high as he entertains the crowd.
When there isn’t a home game, Colonel Claw’d spends a lot
of his time in the community. He goes to kids days and libraries, grand
openings and other special events. The Colonel really likes to help people
too. He participates in all kinds of charity projects – in fact,
he has even helped build a house! Condors hockey just wouldn’t be
the same without Colonel Claw’d.
